Porto Metro: Yellow Line
The Linha D (Yellow Line) is one of the six lines of the Porto metro (Metropolitano de Porto).
The others lines are Linha A (Blue Line), Linha B (Red Line), Linha C (Green Line), Linha E (Violet Line) and Linha F (Orange Line). The Guindais Funicular is also operated by Porto metro.
The Yellow Line runs 9.2 km from Santo Ovídio on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the River Douro to Hospital São João. It takes 25 minutes to ride the whole line.
Stations on the Green Line
There are 16 stations on the Yellow Line (Line D).
Santo Ovídio
Santo Ovídio Station is a short walk from the Capela do Senhor do Cruzeiro.
D. João II
D. João II Station is close to the four star Hotel Black Tulip - Porto Gaia.
João de Deus
João de Deus Station is opposite the large El Corte Inglés Gaia Porto.
Câmara de Gaia
Câmara de Gaia is opposite Gaia City Hall and close to a number of other civic buildings.
General Torres
General Torres Station connects with the CP station of the same name on both the Aveiro and Norte lines.
Jardim do Morro
Jardim do Morro Station is one stop south of São Bento Station just over the upper level of the Ponte Dom Luis I Bridge and adjacent to the Mosteiro de Serra do Pilar convent. Jardim do Morro Station is handy for connecting with the Teleférico de Gaia cable car and to visit the port wine lodges of Gaia below. Jardim do Morro is also an excellent place to take photos over the River Douro to Ribeira.
São Bento
São Bento Station may lay claim to being Portugal's most beautiful train station with its mansard roof and Renaissance stone façade. São Bento train station was designed by José Marques da Silva, completed in 1903 and inaugurated in 1916. Estação de São Bento has rail links to Barcelos (1 hour-1 hour, 20 minutes), Braga (1 hour), Guimarães (1 hour, 5 minutes), Aveiro (40-55 minutes), Viana do Castelo (90 minutes-2 hours) and Penafiel. São Bento train station also has trains on the Douro Line (Linha do Douro) to Pocinho.
Aliados
Aliados Station is close to Porto City Hall (Câmara Municipal do Porto) as well as a cluster of hotels including the Hotel Paulista and the Hotel Pao de Acucar. This elegant, stylish north-south boulevard is a great place to relax in one of the pavement cafes and people watch. The Porto tram 22 also stops near the station.
Trindade
Trindade Station is the major intersecting station on the Porto metro system. Lines A, B, C, E and F all intersect with line D here. Trindade is the busiest station by passenger numbers on the Porto metro. Like Casa da Música Station, it was designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura. Hotels nearby include Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown and the Porto Jardim do Morro Hotel. Almada Domus offers 8 self-catering one-bedroom apartments, all with air conditioning and parquet, wooden floors.
Faria Guimarães
Faria Guimarães Station is just east of the Igreja da Lapa. There are several accommodation options in this area of the city: 22 Oporto Guest House, Porto Path and Residencial Faria Guimarães.
Marquês
Marquês Station is close to the large Jardim do Marquês de Pombal and the Igreja Paroquial de Nossa Senhora da Conceição.

IPO Station is so called after the the nearby Instituto Português de Oncologia (Portuguese Oncology Institute). The Hotel ibis Porto São João is close to the station.
Hospital São João
Hospital São João Station serves the large public hospital here, the largest in northern Portugal.
Andante Card
A good way of getting around on the Porto metro is to purchase an Andante Card. This is a rechargeable electronic card that can be used on Porto's metro, some CP trains and STCP buses.
The Andante Azul card costs 0.60 Euro and can then be charged and recharged. If you buy 10 journeys in a particular zone you get one free. The fare increases for zones outside the city center. The cost of 10+1 journeys in Zone 2 is presently 12 Euros.
The Andante 24 card is valid for 24 hours and allows unlimited use of the Metro, STCP buses and CP suburban trains for 24 hours. The card is activated on first use. The price varies on which zones you will be using the card. For example, Zone 2 is 1.20 Euros, Zone 3 is 1.60 Euros, Zone 4 is 2 Euros. Porto Airport is in Zone 4.
